What Should I Do If My Veneer Has Broken?
The first thing you need to do is gather any broken pieces that have fallen out. If there are parts of your veneer that are still attached to your teeth, then carefully remove them. You need to protect the veneer pieces from further damage. Therefore, wrap the veneer pieces in cotton wool or tissue before storing them in a container to be taken to the dentist at your next appointment. The appointment needs to be booked as soon as possible.
Can The Veneer Be Fixed?
There are a number of factors that need to be considered to determine whether the cracked veneer can be fixed and used again.
- Has The Full Veneer Fallen Out? – If the full veneer has fallen off, this is a sign that the veneer has not been bonded properly by the dentist. As long as the veneer is still in one piece and in good sh
ape, the dentist will look to rebond it accordingly. - Is It A Small Chip? – If your veneer has a small chip, the dentist may be able to fill the crack accordingly. This is something the dentist will determine. The problem with chips such as this is that if the veneer remains inside the mouth, staining is likely to appear inside the veneer.
- Is It A Large Deep Chip? – If your veneer has a deep chip, the dentist will recommend that the veneer is replaced with a new one.
- Is The Veneer Cracked? – If the cracked veneer is cracked into multiple pieces, it is highly unlikely the veneer can be fixed and reused. It will need to be replaced with a new veneer.
